In this week's roundup of Treo software, we're going to start putting Palm OS Treo software and WM Treo software in two seperate sections.

First up is the news Palm Removes Verizon 700p, 700w|wx ROM Updaters as Dieter reported. Palm has taken down the latest ROM updates for Verizon Treos. The 700p ROM update has caused some network connectivity issues for some users.

Hopefully Palm will come out with a successful ROM update soon! I'm sure it goes without saying that many Palm Treo users are frustrated with all the problems they're continuing to have.

Astraware Sudoku Updated

Astraware has just released a major update to their award-winning Astraware Sudoku game. Astraware Sudoku, version 1.40, has been given a full makeover. Behind the scenes the game has been transferred to a brand new games framework, and graphically has an updated look and support for more new resolutions, as well as some brand new features.

New Update to Power Hero

Rob from Hobbyist Software reports that there is a new update to Power Hero, and the edition of a set of shortcuts.

The shortcuts are tiny standalone applications that let you do simple jobs like turning Bluetooth on, or Toggling the keylight. They are ideal for setting as a favourite and accessing through Butler's keylauncher feature (e.g. press and hold B to toggle Bluetooth)

You can download the shortcuts individually, or get the zip (they need the latest Power Hero to work).

mp3 Clock 2

mp3 Clock 2 is a new app by Fabian Heuwieser. mp3 Clock 2 wakes you up with your favourite songs instead of annoying system alarms.

TraceCrash

TraceCrash is a new Treo app by Suntzu Software. TraceCrash is designed to trace or find out the application and the cause of the Treo device crashing. This will give you the right information about which applications have conflicts. And let you decide which app should be removed or replaced by a different app.

Features:

The 1st column contains the application name, 2nd is the date and time when the crash occurred, and last column is the detailed reason behind the system crash.
Using the Grid view, you may launch the app by tapping on the row.
It will also display the crash summary.
5-way nav support.
The buttons located on the bottom of the grid will navigate you thru the grid.
The 4-letter word on the Application's name e.g.(memo) is the app’s creator id.
Unknown app means that the application is already been deleted or the creator id has been changed.
On Treo 680 & 700p, the system crash log is really getting big as time goes by. Clear crash log button allows you to clear the system crash log and save some RAM space.
Option to clear the crash log upon exit
Option to view the last 10, 30, and 50 crashes. The lower the number, the faster the viewing. View 10 crash logs is the default.
If in anyway, you have problem with the sorting. It is best advised to clear the crash log first.

vCardManager

vCardManager is another Freeware app by Suntzu Software. vCardManager creates a new way of handling vCard or widely known as business cards. This app can receive or send from/to any mobile phones or any gadgets that support business cards.

Business card handling should have been a standard feature of a smartphone like the Treo phones. Unfortunately, Palm chose not to include it in the package. vCardManager fills up this missing feature.

Features:

Send contact information to other mobile phones via vCard. E.g. Nokia, SE, Samsung, etc.
If the recipient’s phone has vCard handling capability, they will receive it as BUSINESS CARD RECEIVED. Else, they will receive it as a regular SMS.
Each phone brand has its own way of handling vCard yet each one of them can be handled by vCardManager. Hence, choosing the right phone before sending a vCard is very important.
Capable of sending a widely-used business card format or just plain SMS with the contact’s information. This is a contingency option if ever the user is unsure of the recipient’s phone brand. If the vCard is more than 160 characters, it will be automagically parsed to the general vCard format.
Enabling the vReceive option will make vCardManager as the default business card handler.
Options of saving vCard as a new contact entry, as SMS, or just discard it.
It will run on the background without affecting the Treo’s speed.
No hede or vchr calls. Set-and-forget after activation. Once set, no user interaction is needed. This app can survive crashes and resets. vReceive will still remain active all the time. The only way to stop it is to press the Disable button.
5-way nav support.
Built-in CallerID engine. See the name of the business card sender.
Unlike in Nokia, they don’t know who sent the business card.
Enable/disable sound alert.

MemoManager

MemoManager is another Freeware app by Suntzu Software. MemoManager is a utility designed to make memo handling easier, more fun, and more efficient. The speed will depend on the amount of memos or text files you are working with.

Features:

Tap the memo on the list to export it to text file, send by SMS (Treo only), or send by email (Treo only).
Use the TextEditor drop-down to format the text before exporting or importing. The speed of memo manipulation will depend to the amount of characters.
Txt to Memo button is use to import text files from your card into the Memo Pad.
Import or export any text file or memo size defying Memo Pad’s 4,096 bytes limit.
Refresh button will top up the memo list to which the latest.
Memo button will launch Palm's native Memo Pad.
