Well, I guess I should actually "thank" Insomnia for keeping me awake tonight since I got to see the cool photo of the Treo 800w posted over at WMExperts!

WMExperts has a real live shot of the long awaited 800w, courtesy of Shadowmite (via PIC).

Malatesta says that the micro-USB connector is confirmed, and that there's also only one Shift key as opposed to the typical two, which we find very aggravating on the Centro. Yes, that is very annoying for sure.

I was surprised to see that silvery-blue color. I'd already forgotten (don't know how!) about reading about a rumored blue 800w. Remember last September when forum member howiecam started a thread and said that he'd just held a Treo 800w? He said:

It was blue, lighter than the 750 and not metallic or rubberized.

Well, the one in the pic looks a light blue, or like I said, a silvery-blue. I love that color!

Just last Monday, Malatesta had announced the release date for the Treo 800w; July 22nd, 2008, and said that the official color is Charcoal Black. So are we going to be seeing a Blue and a Charcoal Black 800w? I hope so!

Here are the specs of the Treo 800w to refresh your memory and drool perhaps:

  • Threaded SMS (looks to be the Palm type, not Microsoft's)
  • WM 6.1
  • Autonomous GPS
  • KB is larger than the Centro, slightly smaller than the 750/755
  • KB keys still light up
  • It's very fast with no lag
  • 320x320 resolution
  • EvDO Rev A (though some tester units are not Rev A active as of now)
  • Wifi
  • 256/128 Memory

Great to finally see a picture of the very much talked about Treo 800w. I could feel it coming as Silly Season is upon us.

I was almost finished with the article and looked over at WMExperts one more time, and lo and behold, Forum member mlbizzle was kind enough to use some Photoshop skills to show us perhaps what the Sprint "charcoal black" version would look like. Sweet!
