More on the legacy of VisorCentral...

I remember ten years ago when my friends and I first became interested in the world of PDA's. They hopped onto the train first by each purchasing a Palm III. I decided that if I was going to be the last to get on board, I could at least get a better seat. So I decided to buck the trend and buy a Visor Deluxe as soon as it was made available from the upstart company Handspring.

My Visor Deluxe was much more impressive looking in bright orange and had a USB hotsync cradle instead of the Palm III's slooowwww serial cable. Its most impressive feature was this wonderfully exciting and unique Springboard slot which could be used to expand the PDA's functionality to that of an MP3 player, GPS, dorky cell phone, and who knows... some day maybe even a tricorder! Surprisingly, I never bought even a single module because they were more expensive than the Visor itself. Where the Visor really trumped the Palm III though, was this wonderful website that I stumbled across named VisorCentral.
