Starbucks to Offer Free WiFi Starting on July 1

Tue Jun 15, 2010 - 12:27 PM EDT - By Annie Latham

Starbucks just announced one-click, unlimited Wi-Fi at all company-operated Starbucks stores in the United States will be available starting July 1.

What does that mean?

> Free: no Starbucks Card required
> One-Click: no username or password needed
> Unlimited: no 2-hour restriction

So all you need to do is open your browser or mobile device and click to connect.

Starbucks said, "It's our way of providing you with a great digital experience to go with your cup of coffee."

Starbucks joins Panera and McDonald's as chains that offer free Wi-Fi.

Note that the WiFi is provided by AT&T. No doubt, this move is to help people digest the new data plans that went into effect last week.
