Hurd Lands at Oracle...

Mon Sep 6, 2010 - 9:00 PM EDT - By Annie Latham

On "Labor" Monday, Oracle announced that Mark Hurd is joining the company as co-president and director.

Ashlee Vance of The New York Times wrote how Larry Ellison, Oracles chief executive and largest shareholder, "has put his money where his controversial mouth is."

Ellison, a personal friend of Hurd's criticized, H.P.s board last month in an e-mail message to The New York Times, saying it was the worst personnel decision since the idiots on the Apple board fired Steve Jobs many years ago.

Hurd joins Charles E. Phillips Jr. and Safra A. Catz serving as co-presidents under Mr. Ellison. However, Phillips has resigned and given up his seat on the board, making room for Hurd.

The announcement didn't indicate Hurd's start date. He will probably be making the "meet & greet" rounds during Oracle World kicks off on September 19 in San Francisco.
