Sound Quality & Conclusion

Making/Taking Calls

Once everything's powered on, the G2 is very comfortable to wear, and the earpiece easily flips over to wear on your right or left ear (the purist may be annoyed by the "G2" label being upside down when usingthe left ear). It's also incredibly light; I could barely feel it on my ear. Taking calls is easy enough -- briefly press the talk button on the G2 to answer the phone, and press it again to hang up. There are volume buttons on the G2 are oddly angled -- most headsets have them directly above and below each other, while the G2 puts them on the front and back on on opposite sides. No matter which ear is used, press the buttons near the front to turn the volume down and the buttons near the back to turn the volume up. You hear a light beep as you are adjusting the volume, and an audible tone will also indicate when the max or minimum volume is reached.

Audio quality was a mixed bag. I could hear things very clearly, but there was a slight background whine when I had the volume maxed out. On the other end, people I talked to on the phone sometimes complained that the audio was muffled or that I sounded like I was in a tunnel. I've been told this more of an issue with the dongle than with the G2, so I will have a separate review of the G2 when the Treo 650 comes out.

Conclusion

The G2/BT07 Combo is the first to bring Bluetooth headset capability to the Treo 600. Although the pairing process is arduous, it is thankfully a one-time operation, and everyday use is pretty straightforward. Audio quality can be suspect, but overall the G2 for the Treo 600 is a decent headset combo that gives Treo 600 users a glimpse of one of the reasons why people are excited about the Treo 650.
