powerful but lacking... (battery life fix) |
To rectify battery life (problem I mentioned below) a massive improvement comes from turning the infra red scanner off - so I partly retract what I said below...

powerful but lacking... |
Had my 680 for a month (1st time treo user after many years of nokia communicators) and it's fantastic butlacking in three main areas:
1) the need to buy a SD card to add any extra programmes(64Mb doesn't go a long way)
2) missing basic tools like an alarm clock
3) absolutely shocking battery life... don't even get one day of use out of it without charging (marginal benefit is that when I connect via USB, it charges the phone. (they should have provided a cradle + extra battery with it)

Practical and lives up to it's promises. |
If you do not need to surf the web 40% of the time while on the move, if you are not particular about how many megapixels your phone camera has, if you do not need to be connected to your email 24hrs of the day, then this is a wonderful pda phone.

Treo 680 is worst phone I've ever owned |
This is the worst phone I've ever owned. I'm on my second Treo 680 (warranty replacement), and have constant problems with dropped calls. And the battery needs to be charged daily. Do not buy this phone.

Phone doesn't work |
Go to eBay and see how many "refurbished" Treo 680's are on offer. The anwer: a suspiciously high number. Why? Because this product is utter SHITE. I just purchased one and the phone doesn't work. Having browsed around, this isn't uncommon. Palm? R.I.P. and good riddance.

Love it!!!!!! |
I have been using a palm product since 98. I love them. Treo 680 does have a horrible battery but there are ways around that. The phone itself works great, It's a simple highend piece of technology. Simple to manuver much software to choose from. I just love it.

Packed with features! |
It takes an 8 gig SD card (only advertised as able to take 2 gig) it is packed with great software that is reliable and call reception is superb. Web surfing is pretty fast too... although it should of came with wifi which is much cheaper.

Give you all you need other than GPS |
Solid phone.. I love it. Battery may be a weak for heavy users though. Runs well and feels great in the hand. I have had it for 6 months or so and I still have a hard time putting it down.

Why a Treo 680? |
Well, it's handy and can be operated with one hand. I find it to be easy to operate although to sync with Vista is still a problem, despite the beta version 6.2. And the battery? I charge it every day anyway so i don't find that to be an issue. Overall a good smartphone!
