Slingbox AV by Sling Media

>> Read Review (Rating 4/5) <<

Using an Internet connected computer or your Treo 750, 700wx, or 700w, you can watch and control your home TV, DVR, digital cable box, or satellite receiver anywhere around your home or around the globe.

The Slingbox does a lot more than let you just watch your home TV channels over the Internet, it gives you complete control over your cable box, satellite receiver, or DVR.

Incorrect Info in the Article
I have a Slingbox Classic and it's a great product, one of the best products I got in 2006. I got it summer 2006 and have used it many many times to watch TV in different rooms or in hotel rooms with my laptop. I've also used the Slingbox to catch up on my Tivo with my Treo 700wx while in airports or on the road. On your wireless LAN, the quality will be impressive since it streams around 2 to 3Mbps, which produces a clear picture. At EVDO speeds on my Sprint 700wx, the picture is clear and watchable. I can make out ticker symbols on CNBC, so that gives you a example on how clear it is. If you have a 256Kbps upload on your cable or DSL, it will not be as clear and the video will jump a little bit. I have a 512Kbps DSL line and it's very clear on my Treo streaming from my router. In the article there are some confusing statements that contradictory. The client software will work on both Windows Mobile, Pocket PC and 2000/XP. If you search on YouTube under slingbox or slingbox mobile, you'll see some videos users posted of the slingbox in action.

ABSO-FREAKING-LUTELY
I bought a slingbox about 8 months ago and this has got to be one of the best toys I ever got. As someone who travels a lot for work to European countries and gets like 4 English-speaking channels in a hotel room...and 3 are news channels (CNN, BBC, & SkyNews), I can't scream loudly enough how much I love my slingbox. Once my co-workers wanted to see a baseball game and demanded that I swap my laptop so they could use my laptop for a few hours to watch a Yankees game. And what blows them away, is when I connect to my companies wireless router with my phone and show SlingPlayer Mobile. There are times when I'm meeting friends for a movie or dinner and I'm early and have time to kill and I'll pop nto a Starbucks and use their wi-fi connection so I can watch tv on slingplayer mobile.
