A new feature in Palm OS 4.1h is the focus control. In the main application window, pressing the scroll buttons or a letter will highlight applications and the space bar will launch it. Why this hasn't been in Palm OS since the beginning is anyone's guess, but it becomes a really great way to quickly launch programs with only two or three clicks. Most of Palm OS 4.1 is intact with the Treo 90 - except for DateBook and Contacts. Contacts is the same address book that is used on the other Treo's.

Handspring included with the Treo 90 a large assortment of software. Registered versions of VisorCentral award winning Wordsmith 2.1, Blazer 2.1, One-Touch mail, Palm SMS and more are on the installation CD. One reason that the Treo 90 is under a communicator brand is that Handspring believes that people will want to connect a mobile phone to the Treo 90 through cable or infrared. Because of this they included a full assortment of web software. This is all automatically installed and set up with a program on the desktop.

Blazer 2.1 is an excellent proxy based web browser, One-Touch Mail is an email client - I myself prefer Eudora for Palm OS. The Palm SMS program is only compatible with GSM phones.

The Treo 90's built in keyboard it is the perfect accessory for processing. For this they have included Wordsmith. I cannot give a full review of Wordsmith here, but it has previously won the VisorCentral award for best Application of the year in 2001. Wordsmith is a Microsoft Word compatible Rich-Text document editor and memopad replacement. Wordsmith is optimized to use the SD slot on the Treo. You can edit/move/copy any files that are on the card.
