The major downside to UP is that not only must it reside in your Treo's limited internal memory, but also it is a whopping 1.5MB in size, roughly five percent of the full memory available for you to use on a 650, or half that on a 700p. Its add-ons (icons) also reside in internal memory, furthering the degradation of usable workspace.
I'm not a programmer, so I don't know WHY Internal installation of this program and its icons is necessary, but to me, it SEEMS silly when I have multi-gigabyte cards in my phones. Palm has to share the blame here too, in the way they continue to equip Treos with so little Internal memory, when, as Forrest Gump might say, "that fruit company" releases a new phone with eight GIG of Internal RAM.. but let's go there some other time. We Treo owners have to live with what they gave us.. somehow..
But that, combined with its integrally weak SMS client make for a somewhat unbalanced "UltimatePhone" experience, though if you are looking for a way to spice up your phone app, if you can live with its somewhat quirky nature, it most definitely does the job as advertised.
