Treo on sale in February in US, this month in Europe
Donna Dubinskiy stated during a conference call this afternoon that the Treo will not start shipping in the US until February.
The first batch from manufacturing will go straigh to Handspring's new partners in Europe.
The delay of the US release was not expected - a shortage of a key component has slowed down the manufacturing process of the Treo. The start of manufacturing has "been slower than we would have liked," Dubinsky stated.
At Comdex, Handspring estimated that the Treo would ship sometime in January. New York Times recently claimed that the Treo would ship on January 14th.
Good news for VisorPhone users
During the financial overview part of the conference call, a Handspring representative stated that Handspring expects to offer a subsidized Treo when "we extend an existing customer contract" - if the carrier allows for it.
