TreoBerry a Possibility?

Fri Jan 10, 2003 - 9:20 PM EST - By James Hromadka

The Toronto Star is reporting that Ed Colligan, president and COO for Handspring said that he feels that at some point Handspring should use the same email functionality that RIM uses. In From the article:
"It just makes sense to do it," said Colligan. "Clearly they've got an opportunity there and we've got an opportunity, so hey, let's figure out how to make it happen."

Colligan, in Toronto yesterday visiting partner Rogers Wireless Inc., said he could not comment on the state of any discussions with Waterloo-based RIM, revealing only "there has been some interest expressed on both sides."
This would certainly shake things up in the Palm world. RIM has traditionally been "the enemy," even going so far as to sue Handspring for the keyboard design in the Treo. Should Handspring licence the email protocols that the Blackberry uses, the company would have a better chance in the enterprise market.
