It's Official: Palm Pre Releases on June 6th, $199 after contract

Tue May 19, 2009 - 12:05 PM EDT - By Jennifer Chappell

Overview

Well, the wait is over! We finally heard via Sprint today that the Palm Pre will be available nationwide on June 6 in Sprint stores, Best Buy, Radio Shack, select Wal-Mart stores and online at Sprint.com for $199.99 with a two-year service agreement and after a $100 mail-in rebate. I think that price sounds pretty reasonable for such a sweet and drool-worthy smartphone!

WooHoo, June 6th is right around the corner! And it's great that we have options to get the Pre at Best Buy, Wal-Mart and Radio Shack too! The Touchstone dock will be available on June 6th also, $69.99 for the dock and battery door, or $49.99 for the dock alone, and $19.99 for the battery door.

From the press release:

"The argument that you need one phone for work and another phone for play, or that you have to make compromises between business and lifestyle productivity, is over," said Dan Hesse, president and CEO of Sprint. "With Pre, compromises of the past are history."

Over at our sister site PreCentral.net, Dieter says that there have been a few rumors that stock will be pretty thin across the country, so you might want to start lining up now. ;-)

You can read the full press release here.

And be sure to head on over to PreCentral.net for all your Palm Pre news! We've got the Pre covered!
