Palm Will No Longer Develop Windows Mobile Devices

Thu Sep 17, 2009 - 4:44 PM EDT - By Dieter Bohn

Overview

Over at sister-site PreCentral.net, we just posted the big news coming out of Palm's quarterly financial call: Palm will no longer create devices based on Windows Mobile:

Due to importance of webOS to our overall strategy, we've made the decision to dedicate all future develoment resources to the evolution of webOS. Which means that going forward, our roadmap will include only Palm webOS-based devices

As I noted over at PreCentral, this doesn't necessarily mean the end of the Treo line of products. Rubinstein spent quite a bit of time talking about how webOS is quickly becoming better for business, so it might be possible that the Treo could live on as a webOS device.

Update: That's all we got, Palm has a strict policy of not talking about future devices, so we won't know if there will be a webOS-based Treo again until, well, until Palm announces it.
