Palm announces press conference with Microsoft and Verizon

Fri Sep 23, 2005 - 5:36 PM EDT - By Michael Ducker, Marcus Adolfsson

Palm today announced that Ed Colligan (president of Palm), Bill Gates, and Denny Strigl (president of Verizon Wireless), will be hosting a press conference at 9 am PDT this coming Monday. It is widely expected that Palm will announce a Windows based Treo, the Treo 700w, that will launch initially on Verizon.

It is a major score for Palm to get the heads of all three companies together for this event. As TreoCentral member dstrauss wrote, "Since when did Microsoft or Verizon make this big a deal out of a cell phone release - ANY cell phone release. Gates didn't make this much out of Motorola's move to Windows, and in fact, Verizon didn't make this kind of splash for EVDO roll out."

TreoCentral's own Marcus Adolfsson and Michael Ducker will be in San Francisco covering this event. Check back Monday for updated information, or watch the webcast yourself - live - using the links below.
