FAQ: Has HTML web browsing via port 80 been blocked for T-Mobile t-zones users?

FAQ #158: Carrier Related. By Capt Dumb Dumb. Status: Public, 12754 views. Flag for Review

At the end of 2004, gradually phased in throughout all T-Mobile markets, t-zones (WAP) subscribers trying to use port 80 for HTTP access to web sites as been blocked in conformance with policy. Previously, technical issues delayed the policy working as desired, so customers benefited from a grace period for several months whereby t-zones alone was enough to view HTML web pages. Now that techical and billing issues have been fully addressed, t-zones will give e-mail and external WAP site browsing, but not HTML web browsing capabilities. The T-Mobile web site help documents were not immediately updated with this fact, but the FAQs at http://support.t-mobile.com/knowbase/root/public/tm21837.htm should be corrected soon after the time of this writing.
