Based on some internal Palm training slides inopportunely left up here, we have discovered that Palm is going to be releasing 2 patches for their PalmOS devices this summer: Sprint Centro Update 1.06 and Verizon Treo 755p update 1.08. Both devices are due this summer. As Jennifer just reported, the same presentation also shows that the Verizon Treo 700wx will receive a Windows Mobile 6 update. See her full story here.
The Sprint Centro update will include some great enhancements, including
The Verizon Treo 755p will also receive an update, the 1.08 update. It's primarily a bugfix update that Palm is calling "a tune-up that improves the phone application, stability, and device usability." Bug fixes include improved roaming, better error messages, and a fix for a longtime hassle for 755p owners: continuous DTMF tones for voicemail systems. That last means you can hold down a button and get a longer "number tone" when using voicemail systems. Palm has also improved Bluetooth connections.
When updates are available, you can find the Sprint Centro update at http://www.palm.com/sprintcentroupdate and the Verizon Treo 755p update at http://www.palm.com/verizon/755pupdate. Both updates will be free. The updates will work on Windows XP and Vista, though other users can use an SD card to apply the patch. They are due "This spring and summer."
Thanks to coolgirl for the tip!
