Palm's Help Forum Has Upgrade in the Works

Wed Dec 20, 2006 - 11:13 AM EST - By Jennifer Chappell

Overview

Palm's help forums have been taken offline while Palm works on an upgrade.

Palm notes on the site that in a few days discussing Palm products and getting your questions answered will be easier than ever. Palm is adding some great new features. Below is a preview:

  • Keep track of posts. You can get an email when someone replies to your post, or set up an RSS feed for hot topics. You can also add stickies to your favorite threads so they appear at the top of the forum.
  • Make the views work for you. You'll be able to sort your messages from oldest to newest, newest to oldest, or by threads. Bookmark messages or entire threads. The new forum will let you refresh pages automatically, and jump to the first unread message in a thread when you load the page.
  • Message your buddies privately. Now you can chat with your favorite users without posting to the public forums. You can also create a list of friends on the forum, and keep a record of your messages.
  • Say hello, world. Your new personal profile can tell other users much more about you. Choose from dozens of avatars, add a signature, post a bio, and link to your homepage as well as your AOL, MSN, Yahoo! and ICQ handles.
  • Ask the Community Feedback board. Have a question about using the forums? Having an issue with signup? This new board lets you ask the Community Administrator, who can guide you through the process.
  • Get help from moderators. Under our new system, community experts can become moderators, with the power to move and escalate your issues, or edit them for clarity so you can get the answers you need.
  • ... and much, much more!

Palm notes at the bottom of the page to see their Contact US Page for support issues until the new forums are available.

Well, I look forward to seeing all the new improvements that Palm has planned for their help forum. I've seen in the past how annoyed and frustrated users have become due to some Palm support issues. Hopefully this new and improved help forum will give Palm users the clear and helpful answers that they seek. I'm glad that Palm is working on improvements and will make getting answers much easier in the future.
