Versamail Problems on Centro

Thu May 15, 2008 - 5:11 PM EDT - By Jennifer Chappell

Overview

Have you had problems lately with Versamail on your Centro? If you have, you're not alone.

TreoCentral forum member melzabub started a thread a few days ago talking about having problems. The problem is that sometimes when getting email on a Gmail account, the message only comes in with the subject header (and sometimes the first line of the message).

Many people are getting truncated messages or blank emails and the problem email seems to be Versamail. I have just started noticing this in my Versamail via Gmail this week. At first, it happened only with emails with advertisements, but it's now happening with regular emails. I'm with AT&T and I think that the others who are complaining of problems are also.

Evidently, this same scenario previously happened with Sprint mobile email app and Versamail. Forum member bobdelt posted:

I had the same problem with the sprint mobile email app and versamail.
I now use the sprint mobile email app problem free, the trick is to not use the built in settings for gmail, so setup your account, and click on "other email" (instead of gmail, aol, etc), and then manually type in the imap settings and it should work.

Let's hope that this indeed does solve the problem. You can go here for help in configuring other mail clients.

[Note: Well, at the moment, I can't even get new email via Versamail. My Centro resets itself while slo-o-o-o-wly trying to upload the new mail. What the crap?!]

Thanks to Malatesta for the tip! ;-)
