Is Cell Phone Insurance Worth It?

Sat Nov 13, 2010 - 6:38 PM EST - By Annie Latham

Bloomberg BusinessWeek had an interesting story about cell phone insurance. Did you know that one company has cornered the market with the four major carriers in the United States?

The Verizon Wireless Total Equipment Coverage plan, Sprint Nextel Total Equipment Protection plan, T-Mobile USA: Premium Handset Protection plan, and AT&T's plan are all being provided by Asurion, a 16-year-old company in Nashville that would prefer you never heard of it.

One point brought up is whether the costs, including deductible, make sense. It mentions how the replacement phones are often refurbs.

Here's a link to the phones covered by Verizon's Total Equipment Coverage program.
