Verizon Ratcheting Back Highest Data Users

Sat Feb 5, 2011 - 5:06 PM EST - By Annie Latham

Things have gotten interesting in the battle for smartphone customers. Verizon put out a very funny version of the "Hear me now" ad.

And then the buzz on Friday was about how Verizon is going to slow down the data connection of its most active users. The Wall Street Journal did a story that compared data management plans among the carriers.

Verizon said the throttling will only be applied in areas where a user is affecting surrounding customers.

There was another interesting chart presented in the story showed peak usage times for U.S. users of iPhones, iPads and iPad Touches. 7.3% of all apps launched in a day occurred between 8pm and 9pm.

The Data story is definitely one to watch this month and beyond.
