Great Program... follow up |
In a previous review I suggested that the program produce a Bill and be able to display previous month's bill and usage. I am pleased to report that the latest version does just that! It just keeps on getting better!

Great Program... could use some more features |
CellPlan Tracker does a good job at tracking both Peak and Off-Peak minutes on the phone. Its saved me from overrunning my phone plan's Peak minutes numerous times now.
However, I'd like to see some features that would truly make the program Great! First, I'd like to see an option to enable rounding of partial minutes to full minutes. Secondly, I'd like to see some mechanism to track SMS messages without saving the SMS messages. Lastly, I'd like to see an estimate of the bill, and the ability to go back to previous months data and see the usage for those months.
I've found that the actual time counted by the program is not actually what is billed by the Wireless service provider. Cingular for example will charge a full minute even if your calls are only five seconds long. Over the course of the month, there may be large disparity between the minutes reported by this program and those reported by the service provider. I'd like to see an option which would round up the seconds in a call to the next minute. So a call with 1 minute 5 seconds would be calculated as 2 minutes... this would be equivalent to Cingular's time accounting.
I typically delete my SMS messages after sending and receiving them, for obvious security reasons. This program will count the SMS messages but only if I keep them on my Treo. I find this unacceptable... I'd like to see it more integrated into the Treo so I can go ahead and remove my messages. Perhaps a hack like that of the data call time tracker could be used to log SMS messages to the phone log.
Lastly, I'd like to see a feature that would allow me to see a prediction of what my phone bill would be like. The config for the program knows base cost, and costs of calls and messages and limits for those. It even has a BILL page, however, it does not calculate the bill for you. I'd like to be able to do this anytime, showing your bill based on current usage. I'd also like to see it be able to display bills and usage for previous months data too.
Overall, I am very happy with the program. I am hoping though that this money-saving program will continue to evolve... I can't wait for the next update!

I would recommend It |
Program is fairly easy to setup for Treo 270. I would like to see program in color. Only gripe is that user's can't delete SMS log until end of month in order to have an accurate log of SMS count in program.

It does not work with Treo 270. Watch out |
I have trying so hard to make it work even with the developer's emails help without any luck. It only tracks voice calls but not any data calls which original Treo's PhoneBook log does not support. I guess I'll kiss my $10 good-by.
