FAQ: I received a replacement Treo, however when I synced my data from Outlook 200 onto the new Treo, notes (memos) are not being synced over. What do I do?

If you are using standard Palm Desktop and Hotsync that came from the CD or downloaded from Palm website and when you installed your Palm Desktop, you have selected MS Outlook as your PIM, you should have an installed software called PocketMirror standard edition.

This solution applies only to Windows platform using standard Palm Desktop software whichever is the most current version, which is 4.01.

Follow these steps: Start > Programs > PocketMirror > PocketMirror Settings. This will display the Chapura Settings panel.

Next, in the Chapura settings panel, double click your Hotsync profile name or highight your Hotsync profile name and click on the Settings button at the right hand side of the panel.

This brings you to the Change Synchronization Preferences. Double click the Outlook notes. It may prompt you for which Outlook profile to use, if it does, choose the correct Outlook profile and click ok. Either way, it will bring you to the Preference Settings for Outlook Notes (your hotsync name here). The highlight on the topics column at the left hand panel should be the HotSync Action.

Go to the right side panel where it says One-Time Action of Next HotSync. In this panel, select the Outlook overwrites Handheld button. WARNING: This option will cause your memopad notes on your Treo to be overwritten.

Make sure you don't have memopad notes on your Treo that you want to retain before you HotSync. Click OK after you are done.

This brings you back to the Change Synchronization Preference panel. Review: your Action On Next Sync should say PC overwrites handheld but under the Permanent column, it should say Synchronize. If not, go back to the Preference Settings for Outlook Notes by double clicking Outlook Notes and change as required. If everything looks fine then click OK again.

Finally, Hotsync your Treo. You should have your notes back to your memopad although you may need to resort items to the correct categories.

Your PocketMirror version should be at 3.1.6.0. If not, please make sure have a succesful HotSync before you install an upgrade. You can download the upgrade for the standard edition from www.chapura.com. It is a free upgrade as it is part of the Treo bundled software. Only the Pro version is not. The upgrade is not required for fixing your current problem. It does minimizes the future occurence of your current problem.
